Kelly Metz-Matthews is faculty in the English as a Second Language (ESL) Department at San Diego College of Continuing Education. A longtime teacher educator and multilingual writing specialist, Kelly has taught across the disciplines of rhetoric and writing studies, ESL, and teacher education. Kelly’s research interests center on academic language ideologies, participatory and collaborative writing, gendered access to linguistic resources, and English as a

form of gendered symbolic power. Kelly is an alumna of the U.S. State Department’s English Language Fellow Program. She is an active member of CATESOL and TESOL.
